Many official organisations, such as the government, require you to use DigiD. For most expats this is something completely new and there remains a big question mark above their head. To get DigiD you must first acquire a username and a password. With these you can sign in and get access to all sorts of information on official matters which relate to municipal issues, health care, penalties etc.
Your DigiD code is connected to your BSN (social security number) and must be kept strictly personal. Please keep in mind to keep your username and password strictly confidential as information provided from the government organizations should not be shared. Since the application for the DigiD is only in Dutch, please find below a step-by-step guide to apply.
