We have had a great year, where we have welcomed several new colleagues to our team and assisted more expats than ever before.
The Dutch like to celebrate new year’s eve with champagne, oliebollen (deep fright doughnut balls) and fireworks. In some villages they still celebrate the last day of the year with an old tradition: carbide shooting. You add a small chunk of calcium carbide and a bit of water into a metal milk churn. The carbide decomposes into acetylene and a flame is held up to a small hole in the milk churn. The resulting explosion sends the lid (or football) of the milk churn across a field.
Good to know is that you are only allowed to lit firework between 31st of December 18:00 till 1st of January 02:00.
The 1st of January is a day- off in the Netherlands to celebrate the start of a new year. This year, it means that we are celebrating a whole new decade!
We hope that 2020 will be a year full of happiness and new adventures for you!
